I love writing bold, dominant men and the strong women who know how to handle them. In The Secrets We Keep, I’ve created a twist on the secret baby romance. The hero knows he’s the father but he’s keeping that information to himself.
Writing this book hasn’t been easy because the central character is being dishonest for a large portion of the story. He’s conflicted but knows the longer he keeps up the charade, the bigger the fallout will be when the truth comes out. And, the truth always has a way of making an appearance. Usually at the most inconvenient time.
What makes this plot so interesting for me as a writer? It’s almost as if I’ve written Xavier into this huge hole and the reader has to wonder how he’s going to climb out of it and become the man his leading lady thought he was from the beginning. Lies, deception, and secrets are hard to come back from. Can I do it? I think so…
